National gas production, higher than consumption

Romania will not import Russian gas in April, as the current domestic production of natural gas will exceed the total gas demand, including technological consumption and the quantities for storage in underground storages; an amount of 131,775 MWh is to be exported to Republic of Moldova, according to the Regulatory Authority for Energy (ANRE). According to the estimates of the natural gas national transmission operator Transgaz, published by ANRE, in April 2015, the total natural gas consumption, including the regulated and eligible customers consumption, plus technological consumption, will be at least 6% lower than in April 2014.

According to Transgaz estimates for April, total demand for natural gas, including customer consumption, technological consumption and quantities for storage in underground stores will be of 10,028,000 MWh, by 0.2% less than the current domestic production of natural gas, estimated to 10,048,000 MWh. In April, the total demand for natural gas will be covered at a rate of only 0.007% from import, i.e. previously imported and stored gas that will be extracted from underground storage facilities, in the amount of 741.181 MWh.
